On Tuesday, March 23, fifth graders will be tested on the Revolutionary War. To review and prepare, use the resources below and your Tour Builder.
Test Preparation Hints
For studying purposes, concentrate on reviewing the following things:
1. Review the basic STORY of each battle including the "essential" details which are distinct to that battle. (For example: TRENTON (Washington crossed Delaware River on Christmas night; sneak-attacked drunk Hessians; turned war around and convinced many to re-enlist)
2. Study the main PEOPLE of the war and how/where they were involved.
3. Know the YEARS of the main events in the war: Lexington/Concord (1775); Declaration of Independence (1776); Yorktown (1781); Treaty of Paris (1783)
4. Practice the LOCATIONS of all the key battles/events from our tour builder. Be able to recognize their locations on a map (lots of practice on this below).
5. Review the Treaty of Paris and what the US got out of the deal; know the landforms/borders which formed the new United States.
6. Be confident in answering our essential question (duh!).
This test will be completed in class on Tuesday. Question types will include multiple choice, fill in the blank, timeline questions, map questions, and an essay.
