The Tapper Twins Go to War

The fiction novel The Tapper Twins Go to War (with each other) by Geoff Rodkey is a diary written by one of the two twins, about the “War” they had together in sixth grade. The main character is Claudia, the narrator of the story, and she writes an oral history of the war. Claudia is a very mature sixth grader, she first tries peace, then goes to strategize the war (or so she says). Claudia has a very annoying, immature twin brother, Reese. Reese is one of the soccer idiots, but surprisingly Claudia likes one of them, Jens. Claudia hates popular girls (the Fembots), and is the president of the sixth grade student council. Her dream is to become the real president of the United States. The main problems are the “battles” that Claudia are having with Reese and his friend, Xander. One of the few, is that Claudia is humiliated by Reese in front of the whole sixth grade for being the cause of a farting accident. Claudia tries to get back at him many times, for the thirst of revenge, but then learns something even better. My opinion is that this is a great, funny way to put the challenges of one’s childhood rivals in a story. I love the humor that Claudia puts in her comments back to Reese, or the humorous expressions that she has when she gets hacked to death on an online game, Metaworld. This story made me feel enlightened, so that I know, I’m not the only one who’s gone through the ups and downs of the relationship of siblings. I love how this story is the one that connects me to the pages of words that are in my brain, so that I know, the love of a sibling is forever. -
