![]() Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson is a historical fiction book about a slave girl named Isabel growing up in the Revolution. Isabel is a quiet person whose mistress has just died and now she and her sister have been sold to a family in New York. The main problem is that she has to find a way to escape with her little sister from her new Tory owners. I really liked this book because of the way the author made me want to keep reading because of a cliffhanger. The setting was interesting because of how the author had the slave girls serve Tories in New York City instead of Patriots. I would recommend this book and the rest of the series for anyone who likes to read about history. -Merium
