![]() Who Was Thomas Jefferson was written by Dennis B. Fradin and Illustrated by John O’Brien and it is a non-fiction book. The main character is Thomas Jefferson. The book is about Thomas Jefferson’s life and what he went through to get to where he is today. Some problems he has in this book is that he keeps losing money and he would borrow money from people and not pay them back. I thought this book on a scale from 1-10 was a 10 because i thought it was really interesting. This book wanted me to keep reading because most people know that he wrote The Declaration of Independence but he did a lot more to help this country to get where it is today. -Jack L. ![]() The Trumpet of the Swan is by E.B. Also, I wanted to know if they can get out. - Brandon C. ![]() Goosebumps: Say Cheese and Die is a fiction book by R.L. Stine. It is about a group of friends going into an abandoned house that some creepy guy they call “spidey” slept in. They go in the house and find a camera hidden in a secret compartment. This camera predicts the future, but it makes your future bad. They make the mistake of taking lots of pictures on it. The main character is Greg, and he is the one that found the camera in the basement. He is also the one that takes all of the pictures. This story definitely held my interest and made me want to keep reading because they would leave you on a lot of cliffhangers, and there were also really exciting parts that made me want to know what happened next. The story made me feel like I was there and experiencing the whole thing and of course, it gave me GOOSEBUMPS. The main characters are Alex and Connor, they are the Bailey twins, with Alex’s love for fairytales and her character of structure, then Connor with his jokes but loving character. The main problem is that Ezmia is trying to take over the fairytale world and our world as well. She is creating an immensely powerful spell that will most likely destroy the place we know as our home. My opinion of this novel is that it is one of the best books that will gain my interest of my normal childhood characters. It is a wonderful story of friendship, humor, risk, thrill, and most of all love. -Serena ![]() Erupts is a realistic fiction book by Frances O’Roark Dowell about a boy named Mac who must help a boy to get people to like him, but then get a science fair project ready for the 4th grade science fair. The main problem in this book is that farmers are in extreme debt and can't pay it off. My opinion of this book is that it was ok. I really did not make me want to read more and keep my interest, but it did give loads of facts. What was weird about this story is that the person who is leading the rebellion is a sergeant for the other side. Overall I think that the book Shays’ Rebellion written by Monroe Stearns is a great read. -Ryan ![]() Drama by Raina Telgemeier is a fiction comic book about a girl who is determined to create an amazing show, but there is too much drama off AND on the stage. Callie is an ordinary girl who LOVES theatre and makes friends. She tries her best in creating a play. With all this drama everywhere, she doesn’t know if she can create a fantastic play, or if it’ll be a fail. I thought this book was kind of boring because it was just talking about daily school life and struggle with making the play. I didn’t quite like this book because I felt like it had too much gossip in it, and I don’t like those types of books, adventure and books keeping you at the edge of your seat interest me. If you like drama and gossip,I recommend it. If you like books that I like, I don’t recommend it at all. If you are the opposite or like Dork Diaries, then this is the right book for you. -Aayna ![]() The Other Side of Dark is a realistic fiction book by Joan Lowery Nixon. Rowling is a fiction book about a boy named Harry Potter who meets his godfather, Sirius Black, a so called “murderer”. The main character, Harry Potter, is a boy who survived after a dark wizard, Lord Voldemort, killed his parents and attempted to kill him but failed. The main problem in the story is that Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban, a wizard jail, and everyone thinks he is trying to kill Harry Potter. The character Sirius Black is very interesting because he is known for killing a lot of people but, he actually didn’t. The conflict he faced is having to hide all his life in order not to be caught. This story made me want to keep reading because there is a lot of drama because Sirius Black escaped from Azkaban. It also held my interest because there are many exciting things going on. This is why the Harry Potter series is my favorite book series. -Jennifer I read the fictional book Harry Potter and The Prisoner Of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling and it is about a boy “Harry” who is trying to be a good friend while also trying to save an innocent man from a terrible fate. The main character, Harry, who is 13, is starting the book on the run from the ministry because Harry, who is small, skinny, and just so happened to be a wizard, blew up his Aunt Marge. The main problem is that Harry thinks someone named Sirius black wants to murder him. My opinion of this book is that the twist of the plot is so big at the end that when I read it for the first time I nearly fell out of my seat. This story kept me on my toes the whole way through with all the action and plot. I would recommend this book to anyone who who likes magic and would also say that it would be helpful to read the first 2 books to better understand the story. -Haile ![]() Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Long Haul by Jeff Kinney is a humorous realistic fiction book. Raina a stubborn, yet kind girl who learns that a little sister is not as amazing as she thinks. This made me want to keep reading it because it was funny, and was very exciting. I think the unexpected plot was that Raina wanted a sister so bad but when the baby Amura was born Amura was mean grumpy, and rude. -Aleeza ![]() In the fiction book Dork Diaries: Tales From a Not-So-Friendly Frenemy by Rachel Renee Russell, Nikki is the main character who is an outgoing and nice girl. She is assigned the same school as her archnemesis Mackenzie Hollister for Student Exchange Week. When she’s there, she realizes that there are even meaner students then Mackenzie. Nikki has some conflict in the beginning with Mackenzie, but then starts to become friends with her. Towards the end she got yelled at by Makenzie because she got framed by Tiffany, the meaner girl, for writing “Bug Girl” on her locker. The problem is that Nikki’s friends all got assigned to the same school, except for Nikki. So Chloe, Zoey, (NIkki’s best friends) and Brandon were having fun at Brandon’s friend’s school. In my opinion, this book was great because it had drama like having to go to the same school as Mackenzie for Student Exchange Week. She had to go to Mackenzie’s school otherwise she had to go to summer school. There was also some mistakes like Nikki not having enough money to buy this super good facial cream for her student I.D., so she made her own and turned her face blue! It was so good, that it made me not want to put the book down! It held my interest the whole way throughout the book because it had drama and unexpected things like getting yelled at and spray painting lockers. Something unexpected in the plot was Tiffany spray painting Mackenzie’s locker, then Mackenzie yelling at Nikki because she figured Nikki did it because of their history. -Shae ![]() The mythological book Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods by Rick Riordan is told by a modern day demigod that explains all the Greek Gods from Athena to Zeus. This novel does not have a main character, but each chapter will focus on a specific god or goddess, plus a bonus story of how everything got started! There is no main problem, except for the exciting conflicts in each immortal’s chapter. I loved this book, with the sass, sarcasm and humor put in it by the famous demigod - Percy Jackson. It made me bounce in my seat with anxiousness, waiting to find out what will happen next. I recommend this book to everyone, no matter if you’re new to Greek mythology or if you’re an expert, this novel will definitely spur your knowledge and love of Percy Jackson. -Serena ![]() The realistic fiction book Wonder by Raquel J. Palacio is about a young boy with facial disorders going through the ups and downs of middle school. August Pullman was born struggling with things that come to us naturally: such as breathing, swallowing, and closing your mouth, his first time going to school has given him experiences that he will never forget. The main problem is the bully Julian, who teases August and calls him a freak, then causes a “Boy War” in Fifth grade. I loved this moving novel that made feel connected with the characters and how they feel. I recommend this book to anyone that loves a story that makes you want to keep on reading! -Serena ![]() The Scarlet Stockings Spy by Trinka Hakes Noble is a pathetic realistic fiction book about a young girl who secretly gives messages to her brother who is a soldier in Boston named Jonathan. The main character is Maddy Rose a unique, secret spy girl who is very intelligent. The main problem is that there is battles and general Washington need information from Maddy Rose, and Maddy rose suffers a big loss in her life. This story always kept me on my edge of my seat wondering who’s going to win a battle or if someone is going to die. Maddy Rose is a really interesting character who is spying on a country, how cool is that! The Scarlet Stockings Spy always had suspense. You always had had to infer what was going to happen. The plot was very unexpected because Maddy Rose’ s mom was always calm during the toughest times. The setting was in Philadelphia, and I have been to Philadelphia so I could relate to the story. The story made me feel very glad that I'm living in a more peaceful world where there is less war. -Jared The Scarlet Stockings Spy is a historical fiction story by Trinka Hakes Noble about a young girl named Maddy Rose whose brave brother, Jonathan, goes to the Revolutionary War.
