The book Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is a fantasy fiction novel about a twelve year old teenage troublemaker named Percy Jackson. Percy has always had life with strange elements. These events always occurred while he was near water for some reason. Soon Percy learns that he is the son of the greek god Posieden, god of the sea! With this news also comes the fact that he must go to a camp called Camp HalfBlood because he is considered a demigod. He finds out his school teacher is the director of this camp. Percy arrives at this camp to new friends and rivals, training to fight monsters, learning his divine powers, sighting unbelievable creatures, and more! The problem of the story starts when Zeus loses his Master Lightning Bolt and blames it on Posieden. Zeus tells Posieden to give him his bolt back or else he will declare war on him. So Percy begins a quest to retrieve the Master Bolt which is rumored to be in the Underworld with Hades, the god of the Underworld. Will Percy and his friends Annabeth and Grover succeed in their journey? This book held my interest the entire time I was reading it. It was filled with humor, suspense, and a creative element of greek mythology. I love the characters’ personalities and I couldn’t wait to read the sequel. -Nithya
